Hi Everybody! I have been teaching Art since 1998. I graduated from Colgate University in 1997. I started teaching at Windham Central School. WAJ is a k-12 school in the Catskills where that cool ski mountain is located. I taught all the elementary art classes K-6, 8th Grade Art & TECHNOLOGY (oh my) and Highschool Studio Art Classes. Yes, there was another teacher who taught the rest of the Highschool classes. The 9/11 attack ocurred while I was working at Windham. I can still remember where I was when I first learned about this tragedy.
Between leaving Windham and becoming employed at Unatego Central School I began my masters work at St. Rose College in Albany. I finished my masters in 2005 and continued to teach at Unatego until 2010. At that point I began my Masters work at St. Rose College in Albany. At that point I began to reinvent myself and my life. Being layed off from Unatego, I began to come up with many other forms of employment. I substitute taught at Franklin and Afton (where my sis teaches), I became a field hockey referee (which I LOVE), I worked at Down Home Acres Farm, I created my own Painting Party Business (which I can do whenever I want) and also worked at Music Festivals every summer.
I worked with a vegan and vegetarian Food vendor called "The Solar Cafe". It has been a life changing remarkable experience in itself. On my breaks, I was able to see Willie Nelson, Tom Petty and many others in concert! The Solar Cafe took me to Arkansas (Wakarusa), Tennessee (Bonaroo MTV), Michigan (Electric Forest), Virginia (Lock'n), New York (Blue Heron Festival), New Hampshire (Jerry Jam & Wildwoods), Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania (Peach Fest). I met so many different kinds of people and learned of an American culture I never realized existed. It was an absolutely unforgettable and enriched experience that will forever make me a different person. I love music, I love art, I love people, I love animals, I love to feel freedom and live on the road and I love to work!
Well, here I am back at Unatego in 2017. I love it here too! Ms. Blincoe retired after a full successful career in the Art Room. We are a lot alike. We like stuff! We like to make stuff! We like being creative and both love to bring out the creativity in children. We know how to make a mess and we know how to clean it up! I hope Ms. Blincoe is enjoying a relaxing and fruitful retirement. God knows she deserves it! We all know art teachers do not do a lot of relaxing while school is in session. There are too many pinch pots, paintings, weavings, animal paper mache sculptures to attend to!
