Unatego After School Care Program
Program Description and Guidelines

What is the After-School Care Program?
The After-School Care Program is a self-supporting daycare that is sponsored by the Board of Education. It is a safe and supervised time for students after the school day is over. The program is in the cafeteria of the Unatego Elementary School. The After-School Care Program is open to children who are enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade during the 2020-21 school year and reside within the town limits of Otego and Unadilla. Our goal is to have quiet time for homework, physical activity, and a healthy snack.

Hours of Operation
The program is open from 2:45pm to 5:30pm Tuesday thru Friday when school is in session. A late fee of $5 will be assessed when a student is picked up after 5:30 AND for every fifteen minutes after 5:45. Repeat offenders will be asked to leave the program.  We only have staffing until 5:30. There may be half days for parent conferences, and we will have ASCP for those days. We DO NOT have After School on days that there is no school.  We will start our program on the first day of school, September 10th, 2020.

Tuition Costs and Billing Procedures
Tuition is $6 per day for the first child in a family and $5 per day for each additional child in the same family. For example, two children are $11 and three children are $16 from the same household. On half days, tuition is $10 for the first child in a family and $9 for each additional child.  Receipts are available upon request.  Tuition fees must keep this program self-supporting and are payable two weeks or a month in advance.  Please be sure to indicate which days your child will be attending on the information sheet in this packet.  Please let the school nurse AND the After-School Program know when there is a change in days with a note and/or a phone call. A child will not be allowed to attend the program if payment is delinquent. Your child needs to be enrolled at least two days a week.  Checks should be made payable to Unatego ASCP.  Payment can either be dropped off at pick up, sent in your child’s folder c/o ASCP, or mailed to: Unatego Elementary School, c/o Carrie Hewlett DeJoy, 265 Main Street, Unadilla NY 13849.
Please direct ALL billing questions to the director ONLY.

Behavior
All students are expected to follow the rules of the Unatego Elementary handbook and those that the program has set. Parents will be contacted about serious behavioral problems. If the problems continue, the child will be removed from the program. As always, violence is not tolerated.

Health
If a child becomes ill, the staff will determine the urgency. If they are genuinely uncomfortable, the staff will contact the parents.  If a child gets injured while at the program, the parent will be informed of what happened and how the injury was treated. There will also be an accident form that needs to be filled out by the staff and the parents. In case of a serious injury, parents will be called for instructions. Life threatening situations will require a 911 call. See the director if medication needs to be given during the program. Considering the COVID19 crisis, our protocol will be much stricter. Any child exhibiting symptoms of the virus will be quarantined to a designated area. Their parents will be contacted, and the child will need to be picked up ASAP. There will be no exceptions.  We will be following the guidelines that the school and the Board of Health have set forth for us. We ask that you make sure that we have correct contact numbers for all family members. Please make sure to update phone numbers if they change.

Pick Up
When you arrive to pick up your child, you MUST sign the sign-out sheet.  If there is someone else picking up your child, please call the program to let us know.  You may also call the school nurse before noon with pick up changes at 369-6210.  The ASCP may be reached directly between 2:45-5:30 pm. (369-6207) or (267-1707) Please do not park in the bus circle when picking up your child. The side door of the cafeteria will be open for us to use.
