COVID-19 Guidance for NYS Public Schools as of August 24, 2022

Summary

  • If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they should stay home for at least 5 days, and not return to school or work until they have been fever-free without the use of fever reducing medicine for 24 hours and their symptoms have resolved or are resolving.  They should wear a mask upon return to school or work for days 6-10.  A negative test result is not required to return from COVID infection.
  • Students and staff no longer need to quarantine after a COVID-19 exposure, but it is strongly recommended that they wear a mask when in school for 10 days after exposure. It is also strongly recommended that exposed persons test on day 5 after exposure.
  • Unatego will continue to encourage proper respiratory and hand hygiene and will continue to use state-of-the-art air purification systems in all classrooms and common areas in the district. Social distancing will be encouraged.
  • Unatego will continue to follow the recommendations and requirements of the NYS Education Department and the NYS Department of Health in all matters relating to infectious diseases.
