Summary If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they should stay home for at least 5 days, and not return to school or work until they have been fever-free without the use of fever reducing medicine for 24 hours and their symptoms have resolved or are resolving. They should wear a mask upon return to school or work for days 6-10. A negative test result is not required to return from COVID infection.Students and staff no longer need to quarantine after a COVID-19 exposure, but it is strongly recommended that they wear a mask when in school for 10 days after exposure. It is also strongly recommended that exposed persons test on day 5 after exposure.Unatego will continue to encourage proper respiratory and hand hygiene and will continue to use state-of-the-art air purification systems in all classrooms and common areas in the district. Social distancing will be encouraged.Unatego will continue to follow the recommendations and requirements of the NYS Education Department and the NYS Department of Health in all matters relating to infectious diseases.
