| After school homework room |
| We now offer an afterschool homework room for students in grades 3-5 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please call school for more information. |

| From the Cafeteria |
| Students are no longer able to charge their lunch. If a student does forget their lunch money one day they are able to charge for that day only. If they forget their lunch money the next day, they will be served a peanut butter and jelly sandwich along with a carton of milk. The district cannot “loan” to individual families. Students will also not be able to purchase “extras” (ice cream, cookies, etc.) if they owe money on their account. |

| Additional Information |
| Any student who is a walker or a drop-off and would like to have breakfast, which is free to all students, is encouraged to come between 7:30 and 7:45 and go directly to the cafeteria. Our school is open at 7:30 for breakfast - children may NOT be dropped off before 7:30 as there is no supervision for them!

| PARENTS PLEASE BE ADVISED |
| Starting this fall, the school parking lot will be CLOSED to all vehicles except for staff and busses from 7:25 a.m.-7:55 a.m. This means, when dropping your child off for school, you can either drop them off in front of school and allow them to walk up the sidewalk or drop them off on the Hesse Galleries side and allow them to cross with the crossing guard. Thank you for your understanding and early planning for this new change. |

| Substitutes |
| Substitute aids and nurses are very much in need at Otego and across the district! If you know someone who would like to substitute as an aide or as a school nurse please encourage them to pick up an application from the main office. |

| Parent Question of the week |
| Question: I know Otego has been doing RTI for 3 years now. How is this going? Have the students shown improvements as a result of this?
Answer: We currently are in our third full year of Response to Invervention(RTI). While the learning curve for staff and students was large, we are amazed and pleased at the results and growth our students have shown. We have noticed a larger number of students moving up in reading levels. We also have noticed many of our students experiencing academic success in other content areas besides ELA. Next fall we will implement RTI for Math. Again, this will be a tremendous help to our students to further reinforce and strengthen their academic skills. Thanks for a great question!

| Winter Carnival |
| A huge thank you to all of our families for attending the Winter Carnival on Friday night, January 27th. We were able to raise over $700 for our student council. A great time was had by all. See you next year for an even bigger Winter Carnival. |
