I am pleased to announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the Class of 2008!!
Unatego High School is pleased to announce that Katya Harris is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2008. Katya has a cumulative GPA of 3 ¾ years of 99.87.
Katya is involved in many aspects of school life at Unatego. She is in the National Honor Society, Vice President of the Senior Class and in Student Council. Katya was captain of the Varsity Girls Soccer Team, Varsity Girls Basketball Team and runs Varsity Track.
Achievements and awards that Katya has received during her high school career include
awards for having the highest average in Math in grades 9-11, Outstanding effort in Spanish II in grade 10, receiving Josten Key Awards for Health 11, English 9-11, Accelerated Math AB 9, Spanish III, Chemistry, Global Studies 10, Psychology, Physics, AP US History and Earth Science. She also received the citizenship award in 9th grade.
In athletics, Katya has received Scholar Athlete recognition for Varsity Girls Soccer, Varsity Girls Basketball, and Varsity Girls Track. She was selected as the MVP for soccer offense in 10th grade, MVP in Track and Field for 9, 10, and 11th grades, and MVP for basketball defense in 10th Grade.
Outside of school Katya works at “A Thousand Words Photography ” as an assistant keeping financial records and assisting at photography shoots.
Katya has done volunteer work at the Head Start, Opportunities for Otsego, working at the water station for the Pit Run, and being a dog walker and weekend cleaning volunteer at the Delaware Valley Humane Society. Her other interests are painting, drawing, photography, running, golf, playing sports and reading.
Katya plans to attend four year college in the Northeast to study Psychology and Art and hopes to play soccer and/or run track at the collegiate level.
Katya is the daughter of Kathy and Geoffrey Harris of Unadilla. Congratulations Katya!
Unatego High School is pleased to announce that Scott Ruling is the Salutatorian for the Class of 2008. Scott has a cumulative GPA for 3 ¾ years of 96.49.
Unatego High School is pleased to announce that Scott Ruling is the Salutatorian for the class of 2008. Scott is involved with many activities at Unatego. He is the National Honor Society Secretary, is in Student Council, is the Senior Class Treasurer, is on the Senior Trip committee, and has participated in Unatego’s Academic All Stars Competition. Scott also participates in Varsity Golf; earning the Highest Golf Average Award as a junior. His other awards include the Jostens Key Award for Regents Biology in 9th grade and the Most Creative English Award in 10th grade.
Scott has done volunteer work at Head Start, 4-H, Sacred Heart Church, the Otsego County Fairgrounds, and area nursing homes. His other interests include playing the trumpet, guitar, and keyboard, riding and taking care of horses, golfing, and creative writing.
Scott plans to attend the Honors College at The State University of New York College at Albany in the fall majoring a in Business related field. Scott has earned the President’s Scholarship and an additional scholarship as Salutatorian of his class to attend the Honors College.
Scott is the son of Robert and Kirsten Ruling of Unadilla. Congratulations Scott!
